    Playing fetch

    Hey guys! :)

I've been trying for a very long time to get my staffy to play fetch ha

Is there any tips/points to get us playing fetch?

He will always come back but not too close lol and when I go to get it he doesn't let go but he doesn't go to far away from me he just doesn't drop it so I can throw it again

    Hello again,
Found this video on YouTube. This dog has never actually learnt to play fetch get. You may find this useful and certainly try it.

Fetch? Tikva fetch? She says that her job is to sit and watch while my job is to go and fetch what I threw for her.

Hah - Tikva does what Tikva wants to do. Fetch? You gotta be joking. She will not even pick up her toys let alone bring them in from where they end up all over the front yard.

Tikva is Tikva and I have to accept her as she is.

Oh, and I do love that little girl so much.

Many people have dogs that are capable of a natural retrieve. If you are lucky enough to have one that will run out, pick up, and even start coming back towards you - all it takes is a little refinement, and the clicker method is probably the easiest way of doing this.

Dogs which do not have a natural retrieve need a slightly different approach. I am a big fan of the Kikopup videos on You tube, and she uses the clicker method. It is so much easier to follow when you can see someone demonstrate it. There is a Kikopup video called, How to teach your dog to fetch absolutely ANYTHING! Have a Google, highly recommended.
