    I agree. I don't think Lily is ever happier than when she's got her nose in a bush ( :blush: ) het tail is wagging so fast it's a blur :lol: to think she could never do that again fills me with such sadness :cry:

    Totally agree. Gundogs are always promoted as great family dogs because of their usually excellent temperaments. However, not enough emphasis is given to the energy levels of these working bred dogs - especially the spaniels, and far too many end up in completely unsuitable homes, being under-exercised and under-stimulated.

    Absolutely.

    People with spaniels (and any other working breed) should work WITH the dogs inherent instinct, not try and suppress it. When an instinct is strong, it needs to be harnessed into behaviour that is acceptable to that owner. It is not fair to buy a working dog and then not give it a fulfilling life.
