I just got my handsome boy a few days ago and his previous owner kept him outdoors and never house broke him. I would really love to have him inside. Any tips for house training an adult dog? Success stories for encouragement? Thanks
I would go back to basics - here are two articles on Dogsey that might be worth reading Puppy training: When to start - what to do House training your puppy Let us know how you get on
Go back to the puppy stage and treat exactly the same put him out every couple of hours when he wakes up and after play and stay out with him when he performs give lots of praise and a treat. My girls wasn't house trained but it didn't take them long to catch on at all Good luck.
Treat house training the same as you would with a 12 weeek old puppy. But don't put newspapers or toilet pad down, they just confuse puppies/dogs, as first you want them to go on paper/pads then you don't, so its easier to encourage him to go outside from the beginning. Also don't tell him off for any "accidents" just clean & disinfectant area.
