    Hungarian Pumi? Info wanted

Anyone have any info on the Hungarian Pumi dog?

There doesn't seem to be any in the UK? Although the USA have a breed club for them.

Yes I have seen the USA site and the one in rescue.:)

Been looking on euro breeder and found a breeder in France who seems fairly promising (need to translate it and do some more reading :) )

There was a guy who imported some and bred a couple of litters a few years ago - he used to advertise in one of the dog mags, YD I think.

I know the one that ended up in rescue had epilepsy - whether that had anything to do with why he seems to have stopped breeding, I don't know.

They are funny looking dogs aren't they! My international dog books say they aren't for novice owners though and can be rather feisty - how true that is I have no idea.

It's the ears my mum likes :D

Although they are fairly 'fluffy' the coat sounds quite easy to care for and due to their hight they are less likely to trip over!

Wow what an odd looking dog. It kind of looks like a standard poodle crossed with a standard schnauzer!

    Good luck with your search!

I live in Norfolk. I have a hungarian Pumi. she is 5 years old. they are feisty, but very loving. She is very loyal, and very noisy, not for people who have neighbours who complain, luckily,my neighbours know Molly, and so have more patience with her. She is so cute, soft, and very intelligent. they need alot of excersise and are always ready for more!!

I live in Hungary and in our village we have at least two Puli and until last year also had a Mudi which died of old age.

I had thought of having one or the other but decided they were too energetic and settled instead for a Tibetan Spaniel (known as Palota Pinsci over here) and a Shar-Pei.

Is there a difference between a Puli and a Pumi?
