Sarika (means princess in Hungarian) is our first HWV. At sixteen months at the time of posting she is an absolute joy. The breed is renowned for its intelligence and trainability, loyalty and very affectionate nature. Sarika has all that in abundance - it is worth going out just to get her "welcome home". She is great company. She has started her gundog training for fun, and that is what it is - FUN. I recommend the breed.

    What breeding is she.

she is lovely, I must admit, although I have acouple of friends who breed Smooth coated, if I owned one it would be the Wirehaired.

    Beautiful looking dog!

Well have to put my hands up, didnt know you could get a wirehaired vizsla, only ever met smooth coats.

Can anyone advise me on the correct colours of the vizslas?

I believe that vizsla's come in one colour but many shades lol! Should be a tan from 'golden sand to russet' according to the breed standard! The other dog in the picture I believe is a solvakian rough coated pointer, I'm sure I'll be corrected on that one lol!

Hi, some recent interest in the Slovakian Rough Haired Pointers encouraged me to put some new pics of Purdey in the thread. And while I am here some new Sarika pics too. She continues to be an absolute delight and those eyes.........!

    In Max's basket (purdey chewed!)

    I hope you like them.

Call me picky but the problem I find with some Vizlas and Weims, even GSP's is that their faces and bodies in general look kind of boney which doesnt appeal to me. I think thats why I prefer GWP's, HWV's and SRP's because the coat type softens the face.
