And his Great Great grandfather - Casians Intrepid was the 'Crufts supreme champion.'. There's 26 Show champions on his pedigree :)

Gorgeous photos!! (not that I am biased).

I have never had a puppy Red, but with the 2 rescues I have, I have found that 6 years old is the 'magic' age! The DAY they both turned 6, the recall suddenly clicked!!

My Potter used to be a show dog and has a very good head, wheras her daughter, Molly has a more 'ski slope' nose and is not quite as good 'show quality'. So I am told.

I do show them in the local 'fun' shows and they have done well! I really enjoy it! Potter seems to remember, and puts on a show, then goes all silly!!

I have decided that my household will never be without a Red!!

Gosh, I don't have setters, but have just been admiring all the beautiful photos.

Started to remember a pair that were around when I used to walk our family dog (just one or two years ago!). Anyway one of them had a white chest - ever seen an Irish with a white chest??

No, she wasn't born that way, it was all down to her over enthusiasm... she used to bomb around at full pelt, then when she tried to stop, she would be going so fast that her front legs went under her & she skidded along her front. She did it so often that she rubbed away the hairs on her chest & when they grew back, they were white!

Presumably ruined any chances of showing her, but her owner still loved her - as did I - nothing like a setter for pure joy of being alive.

Actually no. White is allowed and lots of Irish Setters have white on them, usually on the chest, but black anywhere is a fault.

    The standard says....

    ''Colour
Rich chestnut with no trace of black. White on chest, throat, chin or toes, or small star on forehead or narrow streak or blaze on nose or face not to disqualify.''

I had one with a white star on her forehead once. and Bailey, the dog pictured in post number 11 on this thread has a bit of white on his chest, not much though.
