I cant tell u how much (to those show doubters) this breed will not show unless they enjoy it! our megs loves it totally and she gets soo much attention at home she shouldnt need to play up at shows but its clear she adores whos the hype the dogs

Fabulous dog and her brother is very handsome, i have 2 danes of my own, "Colonel" and "Libby", Here's a pic of Colonel @ 9 mths and 12 mths (1st Jan 07) Colonel also LOVES shows not like my Libby who hates them soooooooo much that i had to STOP showing her!! Hope you don't mind me asking but is she a Garsak?? and if so is her brother named Alfie??
Gorgeous Danes I always try to watch the Danes in the ring when we go to shows....as a matter of interest, why do some handlers hold the dogs ears up while they are stacked?? I've seen it done several times but have never been able to work out why.
In other countries Danes have their ears cropped so that they stand up all the time, it goes back a long long time, when Danes were used for hunting there ears got in the way as there sooooooo BIG and floppy and an easy target for there pray to bite and maybe tear off!! Its actually banned in most countries now, but you will see that all the American Danes for example have their ears cropped, so thats why some still hold there Danes ears up and also alot of people think it gives a better profile to their heads, Personally i don't like it, i'd prefer the floppy ears!!
Thank you for the explanation, Karen I hate to see Danes (or any breed) with cropped ears and I think Danes in particular look so much better with natural ears.
