    Akita is NOT blowing coat

    My 5 year old Akita did not blow her winter or spring coat this year. Her hair has stayed short and she isnt shedding at all. I am concerned that it might be a medical issue. Has anyone else experienced this? Typically I am sweeping up hair all year.

    I have never experienced anything like that. One of my Akitas blows his coat at least 4 times a year. Please let us know if you learn why this is happening.

    Most likely a hormonal cause. Is she lacking energy too? If so, it might be a thyroid problem. Agree with the others, a vet will diagnose.
