I don’t use however I have seen them used as pig hunting dogs , I think they can be good finders and bailers , I have seen them as part of packs. however from what I saw they were too small and got rag dolled when trying to hold one out on big boars ,what I thought was dangerous for the dog. I have no doubt at all they could be used as indicating dogs for deer and pigs . Like I’ve seen with the huntaways in New Zealand which I think is an awesome safer way of hunting big game. I don’t know what they hunt where you are , In my experience a smart dog will catch more than a muscle bound brute that doesn’t have the smarts. And border collies are brilliant and agile with stamina. when I was a kid my dog was a border collie cross blue heeler. She caught many rabbits , rats , ducks , mice etc with and for me. she could ‘look out ‘ by standing on her hind legs in long grass , Scan a paddock and flush out ,scent and find prey ,retrieve and listened very well. border collie can be a hunting dog no problems at all. just find the niche that suits their type.
That's interesting! My 2 year old pure Border Collie tracks, flushes, and trees ruffed grouse for me. She even shows me where the grouse is by pointing with her Border Colie stare. We're in the boreal forest in Canada.
Here’s a Queensland hunting vid with border collies , Warning don’t watch if you don’t like dog hunting pigs . I’ve heard people say they are the best pigging dogs , I’m not convinced. that’s their choice
I love dogs too much to want to see them killed by wild boar. this is the style of hunting I like it’s the big game indicating style hunting with what I think is a huntaway dog in New Zealand
