As long as you bring him up correctly I see no problem, he will be a lovely boy no doubt :D

Yep he is my baby

I ask this question as my mum, and ian from this site have both said its not 2 breeds of dog that they would chose to breed together.

I also agree that yes, he should be bought up correctly. At only 9wks old, he is 1 of the most obedient dogs ive ever had. He sits when told, gives me his paw when told etc and that in my eyes is obedient at such a young age.

He is spoilt rotten already, of course the children have to sit on the floor so georgie can have the sofa!!!!!

I can't see any problem with this particular cross, but be careful not to spoil him as this can lead to difficulties/bad behaviour in any breed. As long as you make sure your pup knows where it stands I can't see you having a problem. :)

Teenytiny  whatever 'breed' Georgie may be he is now yours. Many of us would not choose to crossbreed dogs at all but that is beside the point.

I think dogs are not born with problem behaviour, they may be predisposed to certain traits but for the most part they are what we make them. Give lots of time/ love/commonsense to bringing up your puppy and he should be a dog you can be proud of . :p

PS .I would give him a nice soft bed on the floor not on the sofa, Georgie will like it just as much, and it will let him have a break from the children when he needs to...

If you have not seen these already here are two articles by Shadowboxer to help with your puppy,.one on Dogs and Children, one on basic puppy training, and also an article on housetraining ..

I was joking about the kids on the floor and georgie on the sofa!! He has a dog bed in the corner of the room, he needs this as his retreat and he is very good about sleeping alone in it. He is 90% toilet trained already, i have been consistent with him from day 1.

I agree to a certain extent that the 'breed' of a dog is no major factor, it is the way they are bought up and treated that makes what kind of dog they will be.

The 1 thing i find hard is, i know georgie should be well socialised from a very early age, and this should be done by 12wks. He is 9wks now and has not completed his course of jabs yet, so at the moment i am unable to take him out. Im worried that by the time he's allowed out, he would have missed vital socialisation skills that he should of had already. He will be allowed out in 2 wks....when he's 11wks old.

Teenytiny  you can and should be taking your puppy out, not allowing him down on the floor or where he will come into contact with other dogs but in your arms...:) As you have now started a thread on this topic I have moved my reply to there..

only thing i would worry about is people/do gooders mistaking it for a pitbull, then again it might not look that way, depends really on the strain of am bulldog. either way im sure it will look an awesome dog and would love to see a couple of pics of it when it was growing up

Why do you say people may mistake him for a pitbull?

He doesnt look like one no.

He has a body very similar to a staff, but long like an american bulldog. He has large paws like an american bulldog. As for his head - well its larger than a staffs, exactly the same shape as an american bulldog, he has ab ears, a mixture of the 2 breeds muzzles, but he has a slightly wrinkly face and muzzle like the ab.

All in all, id say he is gorgeous. I will post some pictures next week when i have uploaded them onto my computer and you can see then.....
