    Dermacentor tick warning in UK

If you are off to other parts of the country on holiday this summer and are taking your dog, you need to be aware of the tick risk. Its now been confirmed that there are populations of the Dermacentor tick in Essex, Wales, the South East and the South West. This tick can transmit the parasite that causes canine babesiosis - a disease affecting dogs that can be fatal. The more common Ixodes tick is also at high levels in some parts of the country. This tick can transmit Lyme disease.
