Hello (Information on Labrador health testing please)

    Hello,

This is my first posting ever.

I would be very grateful for some advice about Labrador retriever puppies because having given up my job due to my husbands relocation, we are at last able to devote sufficient time to owning a dog

I have read about the importance of the hip score (and eyes) but I wonder what is actually the value that you would recommend or look for yourselves.

    If anyone could advise me
    I would be very grateful

    Many thanks

    Carolyn

Welcome & good that you are researching before buying or even looking.

Labrador Retrievers should come from at least 5 generations of hip scored dogs, plus a minimum of 3 generations of elbow scored dogs & 5 generations of clinical eye tested dogs-both parents should have a current eye certificate at the the the puppies are born. Add to this DNA testing for RD/OSD & prcd-PRA or both parents being normal by their parentage

But health tests are not the only important part of looking for a puppy equally the puppy ust have been bred for temperament & character:)
