When I first got her at about 12 weeks or so she was almost completely black just with brown paws. but she is getting more and more brown markings everyday (she's just turned 1 year old in january), she now had brown markings on her cheeks and above her eyes, and most of the way up her legs as well as in her tail and around her behind. She has long hair and a beautiful coat. I just wish I knew what she was. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Stephanie

I reckon she's a retriever cross, not entirely sure with what though! Very pretty.

She's a large dog. .. about 60 pounds I think. . .need to have her weighed again. I believe your right on the rottie part. . thinking maybe some kind of cocker gives her the curl???

Well she has a very retrievery head, but the fact she is black an tan suggests that maybe she is more htan a straight cross. Theoretically both parents have to carry black and tan to produce black and tan so neither parent would be a full retriever!

that's true. . . I wish I could find out who her parents were, but she was found on the side of the road in a box with her sister and brother. I saw her sister.. . she was fully black as a pup.

I'd say Rottie x Lab or Retriever. Tail throws me off a bit

Is it the tan markings that indicate a rottie, I am just curious as I have just looked at a litter of L/W springer and golden retriever cross pups and they have similar markings
I was assured the golden was the dad but now I am worried I have been misled.

I know a rottie x collie who looks full rottie, ie black and tan, short coat, but the mum is a normal black and white border collie.
