    Hounds and obedience type training

How are hounds so far as training goes? I do a little obedience with my 2, not serious or competitive but just for fun and something to do. I like my dog to be keen to work and learn. I find it much easier to reign a dog back than to have to fire it up, if you know what I mean! I have fallen a little bit in love with lurchers. I guess the cross will make a big difference. Does anyone do obedience or any such thing with their hound breed?:)

Are you talking about members of the hound group in general or specific breeds?

And are you talking about KC licensed Obedience Shows or fun shows?

Fun shows and in general I suppose. Hounds are one of the groups I know least about tbh. I am thinking lurcher as a potential future dog for myself but as I said, I guess the parentage would make a massive difference to the 'trainability'.

I did basic obedience with my Bavarian Mountain Hound only recently giving it up due to work commitments. She was ok at it but never thoroughly enjoyed it. She is in training for agility and coming on well
I know a few people who compete in agility with lurchers and do well.
    :)
