    I thought I was going to see a dog in one of those lion wigs! I wonder, does he still have skin folds? Keeping them clean must be a labour of love.

    A beautiful dog! There aren't many Bear Coat Shar-Pei around! Most Pei are Brush Coats like Georgina.

    A Shar-Pei's closest relation is the Chow and it's believed by many that the gene which produces the Bear Coat is a throw back to them.

    Pei "grow" into their skin, so that by the time they're adult normally the only skin folds would be on the head and face. A Bear Coat shouldn't be any more difficult to groom or keep clean than any other long haired breed.

    I think that Pei was gorgeous. But I would like to do nasties to the idiots who said such nasty things after that article.
