    New puppy or adult?

I posted this in the Dogsey forum as well.

I currently have a 9-year-old greyhound mix and we want to bring another dog into our home. Would getting a puppy be too much for the older dog? He still likes to play but he likes to have his quiet time too. Are there breeds of dog that are more likely to be a bit more docile than others as puppies? (I hope this wasn't a stupid question.) Thanks for any advice. As I put on the other forum this is an important decision so we have been taking our time.

Could get a retired ex racing greyhound to keep your dog company

That is a really good idea! I'm not sure there are any in this area but I can check. The only thing is I think most of the rescues that would have retired greyhounds may require a fenced in yard. We do not have a fenced in yard. I can check into it though.

I actually checked and there is a Greyhound placement service near us! I gave them a call and they do not require a fence. I think we have a jumping off point. Greyhounds are so sweet.
