    Ouch..puppy biting!

Good evening! Our new puppy Utley, an Australian Cattle Dog, is super smart. In a short amount of time, he already knows sit, shake and lay but we haven't figured out how to stop the biting. We have toys EVERYWHERE but he is drawn to our hands and feet (not surprised). When we discipline him he becomes more aggressive. First, we tried saying "no bite," then we tried leaving the room for a bit, then we tried growling like a dog and grabbing the back of his neck but it makes him want to bite us more. I would really appreciate your suggestions! Oh, he receives his last round of vaccinations this week so we can finally take him on looooonnnngggg walks.

Hello and welcome to Breedia to you and Utley!

But please, do not take him on "looooonnnngggg walks." as soon as he has had his final round of vaccinations. The recommended amount for puppy walks should be five minutes per month of age up to twice a day, according to the U.K. Kennel Club.

Playing indoors or in the garden/yard will be as he wants and he will no doubt rest as soon as he had had enough, but for walks, the amount in the above paragraph should be kept to.

    CaroleC and GsdSlave like this.
First never ever growl or grab a dog or puppy by its neck as that a attack mode & am not surprise that your puppy reacted by biting you even more.
When your pup bites make a loud yelp just like his siblings would of done & a sharp NO.

You will cause your puppy to have bone issues by taking him on long walks, 3 minutes is ideal for small dogs for first couple of weeks as you will more then likely struggle to walk pup he will just sit or lie down, then move on to 2 x 5 minutes walks.

Thank you so much for your advice! We have stopped growling and grabbing his neck (which was gently). I joined Breedia because I want to make sure we're training our pup the correct way.
