    There is a chap in Luz, who has just made up the firs tPWD lifeguard in Portugal, he breeds shows and does water trials with his dogs......

    This is going to be my next dog, (might even consider one on his(

    If you search ..........Casa da Buba on youtube, there is lots of video of him training his dogs to water.

    The breed is a little hidden gem :007: not for everyone due to the excessive coat , but a breed that will turn a paw to anything..........

    I like them - I just wish owners realised what they were taking on. I have an real influx of them for grooming at the moment and a lot are totally out of control sadly

    Yes, looked them up after you mentioned them on the other thread, brilliant and lovely looking dogs.

    Saw Bavarian Mountain Dog on a Horse and Country programme.
    Larry Taffe Irish trainer trying to make a Springer up to field trial Champ.
    Short section on Bavarian being used To track wounded deer.
    Couldn't get one but looked a great dog.

    Have also insulted a couple of owners if they were Doodles when they weren't shaved at the back. oops!

    Goodness that dog reminds me of the PWD that belongs to the family I babysit for. Nice dog but totally nuts :shock:. Boundless energy, strong willed and a conplete inability to keep four paws on the floor! The family are doing their best but I don't think it's an ideal first breed and they are struggling. He does respond to clicker but I think that he really needs some " outside of the box" training to really get through to him. When he cooperates, he's brilliant and so smart but he is a law unto himself!

    I hate the lion cut, I think it looks really silly. They look much cuter with a short clip all over. I can see how you might get muddled up with a doodle though :)

    Thats happens a lot, :lol:

    The lion cut is far from silly, it is a working practical cut for the job they are bred to do.

    My sister used to work regularly with PWDs at a show kennel in the late 1980s/early 1990s. They were quite a rare breed then I think.
