Since I got a nice standing broadside shot of Oliver...

What do you think? Am I right about this?

My best guess of Oliver's breeding...

    Oliver

    Irish Terrier

    and Lab

Now, I know all three of these dogs are standing slightly different, but they're pretty close... I see some of both breeds in him...

Mmm, the feathering on the tail and brow suggest something different in the mix???

Not a clue what, but Oliver is an Oliver. A unique, handsome lad in his own right :)

Would he have that lovely long haired tail if he was from that mix?
I think he's lovely wherever he came from!

Sorry, should have stated that the Irish Terrier is stripped. Their hair will grow long. Oliver is also stripped.... here's what he looked like a month ago...

And here's a hairy IT, they get longer than this though

And yes, Oliver does carry his tail high when he's excited, or running about, but drops it when he's thinking or unsure :)

To be honest, there could be anything in there. He could easily be part schnauzer http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a1/Emppumenossa.jpg or any combination of those with many terriers, collie, even poodle. To me, he looks like there's collie and staffie in there with some terrier breed or labradoodle to give the broken coat. But it's all conjecture as I've seen some crossbreeds where you'd never guess what the parents were in a million years.

He's a lovely, unique dog and you can make up any history for him that you like. You might as well give him parents of any breeds you think fit because you'll never know for sure.

I think maybe his bones are too fine for an Irish, but he is cute

His bones are heavier than an Irish, actually. Oliver is slightly taller, and about 5-10 lbs heavier than the breed standard for IT's.

And personality-wise? He's all terrier. I have had several vets, dog trainers and IT owners tell me they think he is one.
