Which gundog would you have out of each "section"?

thought this would be interesting thread for those of you that have gundogs, or like me just love the majority of them and are hard stuck which one you would like to own.

so which would you have out of each section?

    so which spaniel?
    which retriever?
    which setter?
    which hpr?

i will go first then

spaniel: would have to be the clumber. im not that keen on the spaniels really, but if i had to have one id have the clumber i love how chunky they are

retriever: would have to be the flatcoat. no other retriever compares to them

setter: the english! i fell in love with the many i have met, particulary one we had in the kennels for 3 weeks  they are so nice and friendly, and i love the way they look

hpr: i think it would have to be the weimaraner, i love the way the look and love how much energy they have. either that or it would be the german short hair pointer

think my next dog will be a gundog. i like the northern breeds, particularly the malamute, but it just makes mor sense to get a gundog. the dilemma is now which one

HPR: Weimaraner (longhaired version is the best)! As I happen to have one, my next choice would be a Slovak.
Retrievers: Gotta be a lab, cos they excel at everything.
    Spaniels: Working Cocker
    Setter/Pointer: Irish

Spaniel: Clumber - my sister had one and he was gorgeous

    Retriever: Curly coated

Setter: English, of course...if it had to be one I've never owned it would have to be a Gordon as I've also owned Irish Setters.

    HPR: Wire haired Viszla.

HPR - Italian Spinone. Our lad is the best, nothing could match up to him..Close second would be a Bracco Italiano.

    Spaniel - Cocker Spaniel.

    Setter - English Setter.

    Retriever - Labrador.

Well the Slovaks are becoming a little more uniform than when I first saw them 11 years ago! I was offered the pick of a litter then but as no two I saw were alike I declined.

The coats are still anything from nearly bald to "is that a sheep" so this can be the luck of the draw, but the conformation is very good in most.

I dont want to appear like a know it all but a Brittany is a HPR, not a spaniel. This country dropped the word "spaniel" and they are just called a Brittany. You'll have to have another rethink about that one! ;-)

    Mine would be:

    Spaniel: Working English cocker.
Retriever: Difficult one as they arent my fave group but i'll go with a flatcoat.
Pointers & Setters: Lewellyn type English setter.
HPR: GWP (but if I cant pick that because I own half a one then it would be a Brittany).

    True.

Differing coats are probably going to always be an 'issue' in the breed, but then they still are an issue for wire breeds that are far more established (GWPs, HWV's etc).

    I`ll have a Springer and a Spinone please. That`ll do - I`m not greedy.
    (but I`m keeping my GSP)

(and I`ll happily take a Large Munsterlander as well)
