    Training Tips for Adopted GSP

    Hello all!

We just adopted Annie, our lovely GSP. She is six years old and super sweet, but she isn't very obedient. She pulls at the leash every time we walk (so far we walk at least 5 miles per day with her), and if she sees a duck or other interesting thing she will stand and point at it or where she thinks it flew off to until I haul her in a different direction for long enough. We love her but don't know where to start for training her. When she is "stuck" in pointing mode she won't respond to anything, not even treats or her favorite toys. She will come when we call her when she is inside, but almost ignores that we are around when we are outside.

We love her and she seems to be adjusting to us and loves cuddling and being with us. But we don't want to start off on the wrong foot, training wise. Does anybody have tips for helping her be better? We want to avoid negative reinforcement and focus on positive reinforcement to the highest extent possible. Thanks!
