Norwegian Buhund, any info on this breed?

Does anyone know of this breed?

There is one up for rehoming, but I've never heard of the breed before.

Does anyone know what they are like (I'm not after him, just with never hearing of them before would like to know what they are like)

I am very familiar with the breed as my mum until a couple of years ago has bred them since the 60's. They are a lovely breed very easy to train and love people.

The one that is for rehoming looks gorgeous. He is a wheaten coloured 2 year old.

I know they thankfully don't go in to rescue very often, just wondering if the breeder is aware.

is it in a general rescue? if so the breed rescue may step in and take it.

He is with Dog Watch UK.

Would put the link on, but I think it would be removed if I did.

    Hey, I'll try..dogwatchuk.com

Breed rescue have left a message with the rescue centre to say that they would like to help by either taking him or paying the kennel fees so just have to hope they will let them help now.

Me too. Really wish I could take him but it's just not the right time. I'm sure he'll get a home quickly.

I would take him in a flash but my entire male would never accept him in the house sadly:cry: now if it was a bitch no problem:roll:

Ok sorry if this is really stupid but if you have a specific breed and the breeder can't take the dog back (I know they should but maybe ill health or something has played a part in the breeders decision) would a good step not be the breed rescue? Its just I am guessing here , but I assume someone who has a knowledge of a breed would, if possible be a good road to go down especially as he has qualified for Crufts.

I know any home is better than no home but its just with his breed rarely coming up for rescue it seems a good route to go down? if not why? This is just curiosity for me as I am hoping to get involved with Staffy Rescue up here in Scotland so the more I can learn about rescue the better ;-)

ETA I know the breed rescue is now involved but I meant the owner who was looking to rehome or the rescue he ended up in contacting breed rescue

Some people are just completely unaware of the fact that breed rescues exist. Many don't even think to talk to the breeder to see if they will take them back and/or help to rehome.

Some of the general rescues are good at working with breed specific rescues, others not (e.g.they don't always agree on rehoming policies/there can be clashes of peronality/financial reasons).

I have a rough idea by looking at the type who has bred him, hopefully they have been informed and given the chance to take him back.
