I believe that we are not supposed to use the word f*t any more. It seems that it is no longer politically correct :018: and in the latest editions of the Roald Dahl childrens books the editors have substituted the word, 'enormous'. I don't know what you think but I would rather be called f*t than be referred to as being enormous!

I agree. Calling someone "enormous" in regards to their weight is to me very insulting. For people, I would simply use "overweight" and leave it at that - no qualifiers like "a bit" or "very", etc.

I think some breeds just lean towards a more square shape. That nice little "tuck" at the waist is overrated. Tornado-dog is long torso'd, but he tends to the JRT square shape. He's never had the tuck. His vet has mentioned he could lose a couple pounds since he was about 4 months old. But it was mostly because she worried that he'd keep putting on more extra pounds as he grew. Instead, he has maintained himself at about 5lbs over the entire time. At 2 years old, he isn't growing anymore - and he's still only about 5 lbs over. But he's happy and healthy and very nimble. And he eats his fill and walks away from the food bowls so Cat-dog can finish them - he's not overeating.

I am fat and feel enormous. There, I've said it. Mind, I've always hated this PC business so I will say it as it is and be dam*ned

I'm in the lucky(?) position of having being told to try eating more! I have lost about 22lbs over the last year - despite being more or less confined to the house! 'They' say they will have to investigate if I don't regain some weight. Apart from my left hip needing attention I'm feeling well, enjoy cooking for myself, and always thought that I could eat a potato more than a pig! (As my late OH would say).

I would definitely use fat to describe myself, but I wouldn't use it to describe others.

Honestly, I see no reason to bring up another person's weight. Really, does anyone need to be told that they are overweight? And is it anyone else's business to be discussing someone's weight?

OK. You need to explain that saying for me please. It's not one I'm familiar with. ;)

To eat a potato more than a pig, means that you have a big appetite.
I presume that at some time pigs must have been fed on potatoes.

OK. I wasn't sure if it was "eating potatoes more than pigs ate potatoes" or "eating potatoes more than eating pigs". ;)
