Rather excited... a certain Flatcoat girl is coming to stay... General Chat

Dex's best friend is a lovely Flatcoat Retriever called Nefertiti. She's a total loon, bags of personality, and a budding kleptomaniac ( if it doesn't move, she will take it, especially if it's food). See frisbee pics below

Her owners are going away for a week in August and have asked if I would look after her. Am rather thrilled - she's one of the dogs I know best at our local park and I rather adore her

Last week she nicked two huge baguettes from a family that were having a snack at the park; she gave one to another dog and then gobbled down the other one herself. (well, at least she shared )

She will take any brightly coloured lead, regularly pinches toys belonging to other dogs, and also pulled the sock off someone's foot recently...

She's also a very clever dog and I enjoy an instant recall with her: she knows the minute my hand strays towards my pocket that a treat is going to appear and comes zooming over to sit at my feet!

I suspect we're in for a lively week.......

Yes I think it will be fun; like you, I have a real soft spot for this breed

She gets called 'Neftis' and various other things for short - often all you can hear at the park is an outraged yell in the distance and a minute later, Nefertiti comes zooming past, looking very pleased with herself, usually with another dog's toy/treat/lead hanging out of her mouth

I believe 'Nefertiti' was an Egyptian Queen - someone please correct me if this is wrong!

They really a gorgeous But I'm bias will have to get some updates. I'm going for a walk with them soon and a couple of shows so will get some more

FC's are lovely, I think I'd be tempted by one over another Lab if push came to shove.

I'd rather have a flat coat over a lab (no offence to lab owners!) but there is just a spark with a flatcoat and that glint in their eye they are mischievous and very intelligent they are often one step ahead of their owners. I think they have a real majestic look about them too.

I love this breed What fantastic photos from both of you. You are certainly going to have your hands full for a week. It'll be like an exciting adventure/holiday for Dex having his pal staying - but I think your 'holiday' will be when the flattie has gone.
