Thanks Maddie for the photos and all that information. Pixie is beautiful :049: I do still wonder though why there was a need to create the CSV as there was already the wonderful working GSDs who could do the job supremely well.

Thanks for the photos of Tupac and Wylie, Murf. Both beautiful boys :049:

I thought that, but how do they cope being around a lot of different people all the time? Are they sociable that way yeah or more a keep to themselves type dog?

I won't be adding to my lot for a while yet, but when I do you and Tupacs will be getting your ears bent  :004:

no problem :) i'm glad it was useful! the only reason i've really come across is for increased stamina for the boarder patrol, kind of like a "better" GSD. I've been researching for over 2 years now and I'm still learning about them!

Thanks for all the replies :) So far what has been said is what I have read of the breed, just never really had chance in the past to hear it from owners themselves.
For me it is not about whether the CSV is better than the GSD, but more how alike or not they are. I have always known and adored the GSD whereas the CSV I only discovered about 3 or so years ago, but like I say they appeal to me for much the same reasons as the GSD and 1 of each would be my first choice lol!

Thanks so much for the pics too - keep em coming... and yes that includes the WL GSD :)

That is exactly what I meant, thanks for clearing that up Moobli :)

Well,my guys love their hooman friends...and never ever forget them once made but have no interest in 'strangers' they are ignored(pavement, train stations, high streets, pubs etc) but.... Are very supicious of loan people at the park ie 'dogless'...its that border patrol job lol.. Also they don't like people to force themselves upon them... Bit like me,lol!

Ah,thanks moobli..gotcha! Yes both stunning dogs and yes I'd have that gsd too...or zak! ;)

Thanks for that Tupac. Given they have similar shaped muzzle, nose, ears etc - what gives the CSV an increased tracking ability?

.. Working trials seem to me to be the perfect work/sport for a csv...I need a car! :( :(

I believe its from the 'w' genes..... They have a very advanced sense of smell compared to a domesticated dog..

To be fair if Tupse's nose is anything to go by I'd say it worked

You could just train tracking and/or trailing and searching with the help of a couple of friends :)

Well that is only half a point for the CSV, because you could probably be more competitive with a well bred WL GSD ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
