Great pics T21! We had a Dobe when I was growing up They are fantastic dogs! He was a brill watchdog and loved all his family and the attention he got
Thanks Azz, got the hang of the resizing thanks to a link from steve and a bit of practise. They are gorgeous dogs, but Sydney is a silent guard dog, he never barks at the doorbell but comes and stands quietly next to me, which is enough to make most people jump . Although pretty sure if we ever had intruders he would make enough noise to raise the dead. and then some.
I think they were actually bred to do that... the guy that created the breed was a tax collector if I remb rightly.. and the dogs would accompany him on his rounds Our Dobe used to love running and running at you but nudge out the way at the last minute! lol Do your Dobes love runnng too?
Oh, doesn't he just. I have the damaged knee ligaments to prove it . He leaves it till the very very last minute, I misjudged which way he was going and bang, learnt to stay still after that and leave the decision up to him. 46 kg of Mutt in the side of the knee is just not amusing, and best avoided methinks. Knew the bit about the tax collector, bred to be a silent attacker, must admit it makes me smile to see their faces when they see him, he can be quite aloof with strangers too, apparently another typical trait but one Rio is certainly lacking at the minute. She loves everyone.
lol @ your ligaments (sorry!) Just brings back memories I shall look forward to seeing more pics - and I love that one of Sydney in the dog breeds section!
Don't worry I laughed myself. Thanx, quite fond of that one myself, seems to capture him so well, and unlike Rio he is not a poser so it can be tricky to catch him on film. Sent a copy of that one to his breeder, she was quite chuffed .
Gorgeous photos! Rio has really grown and Sydney is just stunning - beautiful pose. Ouch at the ligaments! Suki landed on my foot and its still bruised and swollen after four days!:-(
Wow I'm in love. They are stunning. Can't let my sOH see this or he will want one. His aunt had one when he was growing up that he took care of, walked etc. He said he was the biggest Dobe he had ever seen to this day. He was called Dooley. Sadly he got cancer but OH has had a soft spot for them since then. Also he used to attack footballs and burst them much to the annoyance of the players who wouldn't have even heard him coming. They never attempted to get the ball back off him, even though he would have just licked them to death
Awwwwwwwwww thank you, Sydney is very keen on football too. I used to have a Boxer that could not resist playing football and would never miss an oportunity to burst the ball, that way he could pick it up and run off with it, drove the kids mad, but his tackles were brilliant They reckon they learnt quite a lot from him and it helped their game no end. Big thank you to everyone for all the lovely comments
