I have had my Bichon Frise for a bit over a month and he has been losing hair ever since I got him. He's currently 14 weeks old. I was told by my Vet that he's losing his baby fur and that's the reason why. He was checked by my Vet for any skin allergies and nothing was found. Can someone from this forum let me know if you experienced hair loss when your Bichon was a puppy? It does seem like he's losing a lot of his hair and his fur is starting to look like some of the pictures I see of older Bichon's.
Though I have never owned a Bichon, I do think it is normal for them to lose their baby coat when the adult coat starts to come through. If you are worried, I would check with his breeder, but I think you will find that the baby and adult coats are quite different in texture.
