    Night barking

Hi. My Cherie came from a breeder. I have no health history of her first 6 years . I have had her 20 months and love her to bits. She’s become very attached to me and has anxiety problems if I leave her.
The past ten days she has started barking at bedtime. It has become quite frantic and even scratches the door to try and get out of the bedroom. She is absolutely fine any other time in my bedroom.
I read somewhere that one should ignore this behavior and she does stop but sometimes not after at least 30 minutes of panting and barking and scratching.
Any ideas how to help her?

Consider getting a small dog crate for the bedroom. Some people think that crates are "cruel", but it's like giving the dog her own space. Our dogs have crates with dog cushions, blankets, water bowls, and a couple of toys. You said that she has anxiety, so she might appreciate if the crate is in a spot where she can see you.

Our dogs have learned that we do one more "bathroom business" trip to the back yard at night, then they are supposed to go into their crates and they get a "bed-time" treat. They often walk straight from the back door to their crates and wait for one of us to bring the treats!
