Is It Safe for My Cat to Eat Twizzlers?

    Hi everyone,

I was snacking on some Twizzlers last night and my cat kept sniffing around and trying to get a piece. I didn't give in, but it got me wondering if it's actually safe.

I've read that cats are obligate carnivores and don't process sugar or artificial ingredients well, but I wanted to check with people who might have more experience.

Has anyone looked into twizzlers and cats before, and whether even a tiny nibble could cause digestive issues?

I don't want to risk an upset stomach or worse. Any advice on safer treat alternatives would be appreciated.

Twizzlers and other sweets are not suitable treats for cats. A small accidental nibble may only cause mild stomach upset, but candy and its wrapper should be kept out of reach. If the cat ate a large amount, swallowed any packaging, or develops vomiting, diarrhoea, reduced appetite, weakness or unusual behaviour, contact a veterinarian for advice. A commercial cat treat or a small piece of plain, unseasoned cooked meat would be a safer choice.
