i think it's irresponsible of the paper to name a breed when they are not even sure

I agree with this on one hand - on the other I feel that NI and Ute's can easily fill that void even if we never officially have the breed recognized...

To add: Due to their ancestory these dogs can pull with the best of them! So yes you could use them for this. As regards to hip scoring...
They are much bigger than Siberian Huskies and less heavy but not necessarily less tall than Malamutes. My girl is just under 25" and my boy 28 1/2...

As far as I know the temprament seems very similar and you wont find any big differences there. I have heard of more Utes that will play fetch...
