None! Sometime within the next year I think:lol: I'm happy to wait though, for the right dog:grin: When I see pictures like yours though, my patience gets a little less:049:

Hi, we have a smooth haired vizzi but really like the look of your wired haired dogs. Very good photos. I've never met one out and about. Makes me think about getting a playmate for oz... but maybe couldn't cope with two of em!

Thought I'd join this thread with some photos of Oscar. Here's a few pics from 7 weeks to 20 weeks. :D

To give you an idea of his character so far....

He's a sensitive little soul, all you have to do is raise your voice and he slinks away feeling very sorry for himself. He's always ready to come crawling back with a little "I'm naughty, but I'm cute" smile though! He's quite a spooky little boy, anything out of the ordinary or sudden freaks him out and he barks so loud he scares himself. I'm hoping he'll grow out of this! He loves his food and has been fully housetrained from about 14 weeks old. He's generally the old fashioned type of WV in that he won't have a lot of hair (apparently there's some friction in the breed as the standard has changed somewhat as the breed has gained popularity). He has a nice hard coat and is begininning to get more of a beard/moustache. :d

In short he's a cracking little boy and I'm chuffed to bits with him. We've started ringcraft and I hope to have some Gundog training with his breeder soon. More importantly, he had his first full on point yesterday. Soooo proud, only wish I'd got a pic! ;-)

Thanks hun, he is a bit of a stunner, but then I'm biased really!

Thank you. :D His coat is getting there gradually, but I don't think he'll have a lot on his body. No bad thing mind you, no stripping out for me to do before shows! Yey!

Ooh how exciting! :D Which kennel, if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks. :D He is pretty laidback tbh, given that he's still technically a pup. He's got a good hunting instinct and retrieves well so I'm hopeful he'll cut the mustard as a gundog. :D

Just saw this now, sorry! My pup is from Cwsscwn. Her mum is a Silvanus dog, Moll Flanders.
How much exercise did you give your dogs when they were young? Our breeder has recommended minimal exercise of only 15 minutes free running (not including in the garden at home) per day until 6 months.

Ahh a very good kennel, they win very well in the show ring - think they have Welsh Springers too?

I would always go with the 5 minutes per month of the pups life until about 1 year old, although living alone and having an adult English Springer I have to confess this hasn't really been possible here. I was always told by Isla's (my Springer) breeders that anything exercise wise up to 6 months old should be for training or socialisation purposes only. Very good advice imo. :D

Can we have some more piccies of your little Wire, I'm getting withdrawl now!

I seem to keep missing this thread, sorry! I'll get more pics of Sika and get them posted! At 14 weeks she's not little anymore, long legs and massive feet ha ha!
Cwsscwn do have Welshies too :D

He is gorgeous Rips. His coat has matured a lot in the last year hasn't it?

When I did gundog training a lady had a couple of Gonegos' HWV's and they were lovely too. Great workers as well.

The proper coat is Oscar's isn't it?

How come breeders are breeding a longer scruffier coat?

If Wire Vizzies are the same as Slovaks, German Wires and other similar breeds, it is easier said than done breeding for the 'proper' coat. You'll frequently get a variety of coat lengths in the litter even when both parents have the correct coat.
