    Michal came this morning...

...to give Tikva her Park Worm shot [she has to have it every three months] plus a regular worm tablet [every six months now as she is over a year old].

An hour later it was time for Tikki's breakfast - a frozen raw fish this morning, and half an hour later she upchucked two large heaps of chombled pale yellow fish [which she guarded in case I removed it, giving me the stink eye if I went near it].

Telephoned Michal who said if the fish is usually white it means that the worm tablet, which is yellow, obviously had not been absorbed before she ate and had come up with the fish, although she had said it was OK to give Tikki her breakfast at the normal time. Previously she had given Tikki Drontal Plus but this time she had given her a different pill which obviously did not agree with her. So Michal has to come back again tomorrow to give her a Drontal.

Much as Tikki adores Michal and is always delighted to see her, something tells me that Michal is going to get the stink eye this time!

I had thought Tikva was also due for her yearly booster but mis-read what Michal had written on her card - that is not due for another three months by which time she will need another Park Worm shot. It is going to mess up her rabies shot though for this year though, which she has to have either four weeks before the booster or four weeks after. Not to worry, it should all be balanced out by next year - assuming both Tikki and I survive another year together!

I do not know if Panacur is available here but I know that only medications for animals that are approved by the Ministry of Agriculture are available, and so few wormers are also for tapeworms. It is the same with Frontline - a lot of the other flea products are no use against ticks. They are also, unfortunately, only available from vets. I know that my vets definitely do not overcharge so am quite happy getting everything from them.

Michal had to come for the Park Worm shot in any case - I do not know of many vets who will make house calls for minor things, and the call-out charge is probably less than getting a taxi to and from the surgery. A heck of a lot easier for me and far less possible stress on the dog. Much less risk of picking something up from an animal in the waiting room as well.

I have not given Tikva an extra meal - she had a biscuit a while ago and she has just had half a 'nana! Of course she wanted the whole 'nana but we share them. Mind you she is sitting looking at me hopefully but she does not have her supper until 8pm and she is only getting half of the usual, just in case, although she seems fine B"H so fingers crossed that it was just a reaction to that brand of wormer.

But I will ask Michal about Panacur just in case it is available and might be OK.

I reckon it must have been a reaction to the wormer as Tikva ate her supper and no upchucks. I had still gotten some individual packets of human weaning food [powdered dehydrated various vegetables, quinoa, etc] which you just mix with water, also some of those squeezy baby foods, so made it a light supper by using a couple of those mixed with her supplements.
