New to this forum and deciding to get a second Rhodesian

Hi! I am new to this forum, I am really happy I found it :)

I have a RR male, his name is Bambu.. he is 7 months old and it is the best companion I ever had!

I am deciding to get a new puppy (female) or not. Bambu is a very well behaved dog. I work at home so I have time to train him and play but sometimes he is a little destructive (this happens when I am out of home for dinner etc..).

I thought that having a new puppy will help him not to feel lonely when I am not home but I would like to hear from you guys who have RR couples... Pros and Cons!

    Thanks for your help!

    Some pics of Bambu

Here is a video of Bambu enjoying the park, hope you like it! :)

I don't have Ridgebacks, but would like to say welcome to the forum.
Bambu is an impressive dog, I can see why you are proud of him.

Gorgeous dog. I really like RRs. If you feel you can handle a second dog, I'd say go for it. Just expect possibly twice the destruction when you are away. You might want to consider crating or kenneling for those short times.

    Lovely looking lad.

Nothing wrong with getting a second given you're at home and know the breed.

It's up to you but don't rush in though.

Bambu is a big lad and he'll be an influence to any new pup.

If he's a bit destructive - two young RR could be a bit stressful.

I'm sure a new pal would be great but I'd be tempted to wait till you've got Bambu to the point where he will be a good influence.

I always say as long as your dog will accept another dog then go for it [don't have to be same breed] I have 6 dogs but my 6 are all related

You are right Bulldos4Life, crating or kenneling could be good options. Next month I am moving to a new home and seems it has the perfect spot for Bambu to be when I am out, hope that I can get that place.

Thanks Phil! Yes, you are right, Bambu will be an influence and I think your advice is wise, I will not rush it, I think Bambu is one step to be a great influence but not ready.

Hi 6JRT's, thanks! Bambu is a very social dog and always willing to know new dogs to play with. I am sure he will accept a partner. In my case I want them to be the same breed but who knows nothing in life is planned.

Your Bambu is certain a handsome boy. Looks so much like our 12 yr. old boy who we lost last June. Are you crating him when not home?

Thank you Mtngirl30! Yes he is very handsome :) I am sorry for your loss!

Yes, now I am crating him and he learned fats, he enjoys it and now that I decided to have a second puppy this will be very helpful. Her name will be Kimba and will arrive in 3 weeks :)
