UPDATE - I gave up on Frontline and Tikva had her first Bravetco chewable tablet on 28 June. No itching, no scratching since, no sign of fleas and none of the possible c/i that might occur. Ram said that were she have a reaction, Heaven Forfend, it would have show up by now.

All being well, no fleas/ticks/itching/scratching and more important, no nasty contra-indications, I will stay with Bravetco. The minor problem is that Ram has to give her the Parkworm shot every three months, and Bravetco is one chew every 12 weeks but he reckons to give the Bravetco at the same time as the Parkworm shot should be OK as it will only be a couple of days over the 12 weeks.

Incidentally, the website Vee @GsdSlave gave me in message #2 is not so much warning about Bravetco and other oral anti flea/ticks, but a website selling their own products, including a "certificate" to become a Certified Raw Food Nutrition Specialist.

Talk about a snake oil website.

That is as may be but it doesn’t mean the information about the products was wrong.
No drug is safe, it may not affect most but there will always be some that it does affect
All we can do is research before giving anything to our dogs before making a decision.

Vee, I am not saying that the information was wrong, what I am saying is that the comments on the website are doing everything they can to dismiss Bravecto and the other products while promoting their own products.

If you read through that website they even offer their own products to cure canine cancer.

Of course no drug is safe but some are necessary for keeping a human or animal alive, in spite of possible side effects, although some of those side effects will not help that person/animal and will kill them.

My beef with that particular website is that they are dismissing all new medication in order to sell their own products. And if their product which they say will "cure" canine cancer, would you prefer their product over known, tried and tested proper medication?

The site/magazine is for natural canine health care, so obviously it will advertise alternative products.

Well I did look but couldn’t find it, could you give link.

That particular link has now been removed for obvious reasons, and I have no intention to pay to join their site. "DNM Academy" "DNM University".

DNM - "Dogs Naturally". Pay and learn everything to cure all canine problems. As long as you purchase their products. The site is not for natural canine health care. It is purely advertising their own products by dismissing everything else.

Sorry but I have no intention of paying their subscription fees, only to be told that their products are the cure for all canine problems.

After the problems I had with the Seresto collar, which Bayer admitted should not have been used on a seizure dog or a dog sleeping on a bed with a human, I took DNM's site with a bdooly great handful of salt.

I don’t see your problem the site (Irrespective of advertising) it gave you the info on the products you were looking for, there was no need to join or buy their products, so why the big fuss.

Nowhere on the site did I read that their products claim ‘cures’ only alternatives

I found the cancer article and nowhere does it proclaim to cure cancer or any ailments.

You may not agree with the site or its principles, but there is no need to print untruths.

I found the site informative, and didn't pick up on any pressure to buy products.
Re. the suggested cancer supplements, this may be a bit of a side issue, but a friend's SBT was diagnosed with cancer of the liver, spleen and stomach in Feb. 2016. As she had found the growths by touch, rather than any symptoms shown by the dog, the condition was already far too advanced for operative treatment. Her vet is a holistic vet who suggested that she tried him on Apocaps, - she also adds a fairly high additional dose of turmeric powder and black pepper to his food. Whatever the reason, this dog is not only still alive, but continues enjoy a normal quality of life with her other two dogs. I have yet to be convinced by homeopathy, but I have great faith in the ability of herbs to at least help to manage a variety of difficult conditions.

Vee - you may not agree with me on many things, which is one of the reasons I like Breedia. We can all say what/how/why we feel about things.

But one thing I give you my word on - I never have and never will, post untruths.

May we please draw a line under this without falling out about it?
