    What do you do?

When your dog wakes too early [I woke her up because I woke to early] and she says gotta to out? early? Let her out for the p&p she needed - dog comes in - wanna go back to bed but wanna bikki.

Tikva shoots through to her crate and waits for her crate bikki. And curls up to sleep. Me? Forget any more sleep.

Ten minutes later Tikki is calling.

    Wanna chew chew.

Chombled chew chew but no wanna go back to bed.

Ten minutes later Tikki tried to eat my toes.

So I gave up and gave her a frozen chikki flapper for her breakfast.

What else was I supposed to do? And it is still not breakfast time :(

Or I have to wake her at ~9am - yes I know I was up early but still -this starts to go crazy because after chew chew [and more wanna get up] I let her onto the bed - idiot me - I am not sure how things went.

And that was when my toes got eaten.

Do I love that little booger? No. Yes.

    Free to a good home.

Rosie never bothers if we get up early. She has an early breakfast then straight back to bed (my bed usually) until her normal time. She doesn't pester for follow on meals any earlier so she's really easy :)

Tikki has a chew stick when she eventually surfaces - usually late - and her brekkie is around 10am.

Normally I can get up early [loo calling] and she does not notice - and I can usually creep back to bed with her still in her crate. I have no idea what she thought she was doing this morning :017: but she had better not do it again tomorrow.

However, we had a nice nap in the morning [yes she was on my bed but snuggled up and no toes chewed] and another nap after I had had my lunch. No toes chewed then either. And no nagging for more food and just the four tiny treats when I went across to the macolet... and her dins are due any second now!

She really is a funny little girl.

Merry rises at 7.15am with Chas. She has a biscuit and a wee, and then goes back to bed until I surface - normally at around 9, but has been a little earlier while the weather has been so hot. (I don't go to bed till 1am because of managing M's spay incontinence).
Both the Beags will then get up with me because I mean Breakfast!:041: It may only be one teaspoon of yoghurt, a pinch of Bran Flakes, and half a teaspoon of coconut oil, but it means a great deal to them, and usually leads to the first poop of the day.

That sounds like you are starving the Beags! Tik is a fraction of their size and her first thing in the morning is to go our for a pee and a poo. Then she has a small chew but no brekkki until ~10am - a chunk of frozen gobblegobble neck or a frozen chikki flapper. Or a fish if I have some. A lot for such a little girl.

If I go over to the macolet she has four tiny treats thrown in before I close the door [it is a joke now] - and when I say tiny I mean small finger nail size. And that is until supper at ~8-9pm. 125g of defrosted mixed veggies, ~35g meat [about once a week chicken liver], and her vitamins and minerals. Basically what I fed Pereg, just a bit less. Yoghurt and coconut oil added sometimes but when you think of that little shrimp she was she has not done too bad, has she.

And I really do love her.

I wish they looked as if they had less.
Their lunch is at 12 mid-day, and supper at 10.30pm. Treats for being good, or being left at home. Everything goes in a flash, I do wish they would savour their food more. A moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips.

Yes I know, I am a raw feeder but it took time to work out what was suitable as it is not easy to start with. Pereg was difficult because when she was post-ictal all she wanted was food, food, and more food, until she was stuffed out.

With Tikki she chombles her small chew stick after she has been our for a p&p - chombles her frozen bone breakfast when I give it to her around 10am, and if I do not go to the macolet she does not ask for treats. Her supper gets hoovered down and then she has a little crate bikki when it is bed time.

Rock solid little Tikva - I cannot pick her up but then I cannot pick up a 1.5 litre bottle of diet Sprite  Luckily Ram weighs her every three months when he comes to give her the Parkworm shot.

She used to look very thin but although her ribs still show - and most of her spine, she is not thin. So how come she still wears S size harnesses?

Treats have played rather a large role in Merry's transition to being a house dog, and unfortunately I can never quite bring myself to fade them in the way that I should do. Merry tries so hard to get things right, she really touches my heart.
Treats have helped her to conquer poo-eating and separation anxiety, and with a combination of medication, management and reward, I think we are finally getting there with the spay incontinence. I really shouldn't tempt fate but she has currently had a dry bed for the last 116 nights! However, her former season time is now due, and this has led to lapses in the past, so fingers are firmly crossed.

Yay - dry bed for so long?! Well done Merry! Tikva had a period of peeing her bed but that stopped [hopefully last last words] but it was just one of those things.I think Merry was spayed before she came to you? Tikki of course was spayed at just 6 months old [not my choice] so not spay incontinence,

And of course Merry had so much to to learn how to be a house dog, bless her.

Ah but Merry is such a beautiful girl xxx

Just thinking - Merry had to learn so much. How to be a beloved house dog. And not how to be a brood. And look at her now - so very beautiful. You have performed miracles and you should be well proud of yourself.

Aw, thank you Malka. We did have a head start though, as Merry was from a good kennel, which is well known - even beyond the breed - for having the highest of standards. Also, she had been on their show team, so did have some experience of life beyond the kennels. She does recognise Tim and Steve when she meets them and will say, 'Oh hello there', but she is happy to walk away with us. Like yourself and Tikva, I think we are so lucky to have found each other.
My heart bleeds for the poor girls that are rescued from an existence in puppy farms. Unsocialised, and emotionally stunted from receiving only the most basic care and living conditions, most are old beyond their years, and may never completely able to relax and enjoy their retirement. These disgusting places give dog breeders a bad name.

@CaroleC - you do not know but you saved my life after my last post. Tikki had asked to go out, I took off my kaftan and put my ginormous sleep teeshirt on, she went out and then back into her crate, I came in here to shut and lock up - and went A** over T** - dropped my crutches - no emergency button [the bar stewards closed my emergency service after 20 years and will not say why - 20 years and I paid every month?] and I could not get to Xanadu to pull myself up.

Someone must have heard me and called an ambulance but before it arrived the young woman who took me to see, and then collect Tikva turned up [with her sister, a paramedic - both off for a late night run] because my door was still partially open and she saw me on the floor. Nobody else even noticed or even both bothered. And now I have to pay for an ambulance I did not call for?

I just wanted help getting up onto Xanadu because once upright and my balance is normal I can cope. Mostly. I do not weigh much but had to get upright and I could not get up without help.

I know it was your last post when I checked this morning. So I owe you my life.

    Thank you.

I don't know what to say. There must be someone, (rabbi, health centre?), who can help you to get your emergency button re-instated. It is simply unsafe to leave you with no support in case of emergency. I really don't know how you manage as it is.
Thank goodness for that young lady spotting you, and sorry that you are left with the ambulance bill - life is so unfair. I hope you are not too stiff or bruised today.

No. Impossible. Emergency service says closed, finished, no can get back. I think they have been closing the cheapo services they offered years ago through the disability union some years ago. But will not say why, but probably were taken over and now charge a fortune each month. I think my non-working social worker maybe can find another one but where can I find my non-working social worker? She does not answer her telephone.

I am not moaning but an emergency service is my life, even if I need to press my button once a year. And being flat out on the floor, unable to get up is not much fun.

So I owe you my life because if I had not checked Breedia this morning and seen dates and times, I would not have known what time it happened.

    Thank you my friend.

@CaroleC - I think I might have found another emergency service. Maybe. My Knight in shining Armour, who is an emergency paramedic, who also trains others [apart from being my Optometrist] is going to find one for me.

He also has said that if I can keep my mobile charged up and with me, I can call him any time in an emergency [his wife knows!]

I really must have an emergency service. I do not want someone complaining about the stench if I cannot call anyone, and I am so worried about Tikva closed in her cage if I cannot open it, give her food and water.

Brilliant. That sounds ideal. Now just have to remember to always have your mobile on your person!

Thing is I usually have my emergency button on a loose thingy round my wrist and at night under my pillow. They come with a wide plastic wristband and thanks but no thanks. Too uncomfortable to wear all the time. So I have always on a loose band.

I have to wait until now Amit turns up - he is as disgusted as I am about the horsepital even though he works free for them and trains new paramedics in how to cope with struggling patients. [He is a BIG guy but gentle with it].

Battery on mobile nbg and they never did get a new one for me so I have it switched off most of the time. And switch it on daily. Not ideally but what else can I do? Then put it on charge.

    What else can I do?
