With some but not all, you can with mine they are collies with big spaniel ears!

With some not others.

I always get confused by Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apsos especially when they are trimmed short and have a generic pet trim. Lhasa Apsos have a longer muzzle and smaller eyes, but sometimes it is hard to tell the difference

I did once ask someone if their pup was a Labradoodle, they got a bit snooty with me as it was a Curly Coated Retriever:?

It depends if its a reasonable example of the breed or not. When she see a working springer spaniel and are told its a cav... I also struggle with a few spitz type breeds and some of the similar large, coated working breeds.
