Ouch. That is annoying. You might go ahead and contact where you bought it from. I've done that and some places will actually send you a new complete item and not make you ship back the old one.

I had that happen with my gazebo and a small chest of drawers. Both times I was told to "donate or keep the damaged one for parts".

The good news is that I have been a very good client. Both the head guy and the guy doing the work have been very happy with me. I made sure that everything was here before he needed it - so there was no delay while they waited for supplies. The few concerns that popped up I was reasonable and willing to work with them. And I provided snacks each and every day. Yesterday I sent the guy doing the work home with bags of the candy for his kids.

So, with that, they are going to use the pipes they have in their shop for my repair job and just charge me for the labor.

I'm also letting them keep extra parts from what I bought that weren't used. I bought new linoleum for the upstairs bathroom. I only need about 36 square feet, but the flooring I chose was a remnant and came in a piece about 200 sq ft. So I told them that they can keep the excess figuring if they have a job where they need to replace a small section of flooring for someone they could use it and save that person a few bucks. I'll just have them cut me a small piece to keep so if I ever need to replace the rest of the upstairs, I can take it to the flooring store with me to find a coordinating look.

Wow I didn't think of contacting the retailer.
As it is, I have glued it, will have to see how it dries. I feel happier after realising that a brace wouldn't interfere with the drawer runner at all. If the glue doesn't hold I can screw on a small, lightweight plate to hold it.
They sound like nice fellas doing your bathroom. I've been lucky finding Tony to do my windows too. He is a general builder but it suits us both to jigsaw my work in between his other projects. He has let me pay for the windows using his trade account discount. He charges me a day rate, brings his own lunch, so I only have to supply cakes or biscuits, (choc digestives raised a smile), and a dozen mugs of tea a day. He cleans up too, and takes away all of the scrap!

I'm really glad I found these guys. They have truly been wonderful to deal with.

Tony sounds like he's cut from the same cloth. It's great to find guys like these, especially after reading some of the horror stories about remodels, etc. One person had picked out their bathroom tile and the contractor refused to install it because it was too dark...

I'm glad you are able to fix the drawer. I would still contact the resaler - they may give you a partial refund for keeping it as is.

I'm still deciding on the strip above the tile. I might paint it solid bronze like the medicine cabinet or antiqued. Or I could do a darker bronze that will fade in to the tile more. Leaning towards the last but will think on it for a while.

What a difference! Are you not having a bath or is there one in the downstairs bathroom?
It looks stunning and very high end.
I think I would pick the bronze of the med cabinet for the strip. You could always go darker if you didn't like it.
What colour will the inside of the door be?

    Thanks!

This is the downstairs with just the walk-in shower. The upstairs will retain the tub/shower combo with a deeper tub for soaking.

The door, trim and ceiling are all staying white. I've done that consistently throughout the h

house. I like your logic with the strip. I'll get to work on that later this week.

I have accessories still coming: shower seat (decided on a dark teak one), the carvings, a pair of bronze swirled glass tumblers. I installed the tension rod corner shelves:

In the bronze color, it actually looks pretty classy and doesn't distract from the tile at all. I have it upstairs and it looks as good as new - no rusting or hard water discoloration, etc. It goes floor to ceiling.

I am looking forward to the carvings. The Exeter Elephant corbel will become the official "cell phone holder" for the bathroom.

But it's practical as one. The pan is even non-slip. But right now it is just his funny time out corner. :044:

I painted the strip with the bronze and itworks great - thanks for that practical "try it and see".

My carvings arrive tomorrow so I'll hang them. My new tumblers arrive Wednesday so that will finish off the room.

I still haven't finished my drawers. I have felt tired this week and given in to laziness. One of the joys of living alone, only Tally to nag me into action.

I spent a couple days this past week being lazy and recouping from those early mornings. Sometimes you just have to say "I'm not doing anything today/this week/this month".

Now I have to start prepping for the upstairs job. Not too much to do. Some last minute cleaning upstairs and moving everything out of the cabinet and vanity, plus removing the photos off the walls in the stairway. Then clean up the day room and wash the bedding so I can crash in there in the mornings while Vince works.

I've got all the small items purchased and I just put together my medicone cabinet for upstairs. I still have to buy the toilet, vanity, surround, and tub - Vince will pick them up at the store and keep them at their storage site until needed, so no worries about them sitting outside.

    My oakapple carvings arrived!!

In hindsight, I wish he elephant was facing the other direction - but not enough to choose a different corbel.

Looking very dramatic. When they visit the bathroom that should keep your guests amused for quite a while.
I love your dragon plate too.
Finished my chest of drawers last night. I've done the drawer fronts but I've just got to wax the carcass now. It can wait till next week as I had to bath Tal today. We've got 2 shows in the next 4 days.

Just got my new tumblers for the bathroom.
    IMG_20251022_142230950_HDR.jpg

I put up a window film for privacy, but it still shows silhouettes. So I have a tension rod blind coming that I can pull down for showering at night. Other than that, the bathroom is complete now.

Tornado-dog and Cat-dog meanwhile have been going at it with the neighbor dogs. Don't know what changed other than Tornado-dog no longer chasing rat scents (yes, I used poison and killed them all - they chewed through my ice maker hose and made a home under the tub). Yesterday, when I hollered at the dogs to come inside, Tornado-dog came through the door at full speed and went through the too small space between me and the dryer. Something had to give - it was my knee. It got twisted. I had finally gotten to the point that it wasn't hurting at all and now it's achy again. No swelling or trouble walking, so that's good.

Something you all don't have to deal with - private healthcare insurance. We have two main types here. HMO - you can only see doctors in the network, but you pay less out of pocket; and PMO - you can see any doctor but pay a percentage until you meet a deductible. In the past, I always did the PPO so I could keep my doctor and see any specialist I want. I usually only went a couple times a year for minor issues, so it worked fine.

But recently the PPOs are starting to limit who you can see. So the benefit has been eroding. I just changed to an HMO this year. My doctor is supposed to be in network - I asked the office to verify but they never followed up (I asked twice), so if he isn't then he has only his staff to blame when I have to see a different doctor.

But since diagnostics are covered with less out of pocket, I can get an MRI on my knees next year (and an updated one on my neck) so I can find out if a replacement is in my future. I'll have to pay the full amount to have my pain management doctor treat my neck, but by having my GP order the tests, they will be covered fully.

Sounds complicated but it may be better than our bankrupt system. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Apart from consultant appointments, I can't remember when I last saw a real doctor, it is always one of the practice nurses. However, they are quite good and would refer if they weren't sure of their advice. I went for my flu and Covid shots a fortnight ago and it was one of the senior practice nurses, so I took the opportunity of having her examine the bump on my leg, which has gone smaller but now extends for about six inches. She agrees that the bump was a haematoma, but thinks the vein has now hardened. It's about as thick as my little finger, and I still have a puffy ankle. I had the injury on the 6th. August, it is still improving but I would have healed from a fracture by now!
I think I am going to have to get a blind for my bedroom window, it is South facing and there is too much glare when the curtains are open. The blind I had before was screwed to the window frame, I don't think the new upvc frame would like that.
