With the old pull style vinyl blinds, you could hang them upside down. Run a long decorative string through the "bottom" grip, tie the ends together, and make knots at various intervals. Then screw in a decorative cupboard knob in the top of the window. Now you can pull up the blind partially or all the way up and hang it on the knob to stay up. I did them like that for a long time. Gave me privacy but allowed the light in at the top.

I really need to change out my curtains. Just haven't found a style in the right colors and sizes I want. I may end up buying fabric and making them myself.

Yes those look a good fitting. Says couldn't deliver to my location, but I'm wondering about a voile with a delicate leaf pattern and a sprung rod. that would screen some of the light and look more feminine for a downstairs bedroom. I am not overlooked, unless someone was up a ladder!

Check your UK amazon for the brand. It may just be not deliverable because it's the US based website.

The new frames were installed to the front of the bungalow yesterday. It looks so different, and I feel as if I'm living in a goldfish bowl. Everyone seems to like it.
I had a fall from the stepstool while replacing the curtains. I shouldn't have been wearing Birkenstocks! As I fell into a small table, have bruised a boob and a couple of ribs. I have to laugh though, when I think of the face of the young man on the other side of the glass, as I gradually disappeared from his view.
Have to plan the side windows and the two doors next. One will be a stable door, I think the one that leads to Tally's garden. One window needs redesigning. Due to a previous owner enlarging the kitchen, a single opening holds two smaller window frames, with a central masking strip obscuring the wall that divides the two rooms. i feel there has got to be a neater way of overcoming this. My builder has suggested that we brick up the kitchen side, I'm not convinced.

I'm never one for eliminating a window. Can you trim out the outside with brick between the two smaller windows?

Allmy items for the upstairs bathroom have arrived. Now it's just waiting for Vince to finish his existing jobs so he can start on mine.

Punx has been coming into the upstairs bathroom in the early morning and letting me scratch her neck. I worry that with the bathroom work being done on the other side of her room's wall she will get mad at me again and stop letting me touch her again. She has her annual exam next month too which means I have to corral her in the stairway to nab her.

Tornado-dog was set to kill someone on Halloween. I had only on trick or treater. Came to the door in a full mask, playing The Wall on their phone. Tornado-dog did not like that at all. He was going to go through the door to get them. Fortunately they were a grown woman so I didn't feel too bad. Nice to know he'll protect me from psycho killers with masks. No kids came this year.

Good for Tornado Dog. Silly woman. The Halloween thing hasn't fully taken off over here, but it is being pushed by the grocery giants - and the pumpkin growers with their photo ops. In almost 20 years we have only had one very small visitor, with her Daddy! Tweed and Eddie would have given them the T.D. treatment anyway, but not the Beagle girls who would welcome anyone and anything that was not too fluffy.
I hope Punx doesn't get spooked by the knocking and banging, it would be a pity to check her progress. Could she stay in a different room for the actual working hours - or would that be no better?
I'm sharing your thought on the window - a central brick pier would allow a small frame on each side. I don't know what is behind the existing cover strip though. Nothing shows inside, and the kitchen is fully tiled, the downstairs loo is half tiled. There has to be a reason why they did it the way they have done.

My initial guess is that it was the cheapest solution. Just from your description, I would think brick trim would work as long as there is something structural above and below and the height isn't too great. But, there is likely something I am totally missing.

Tornado-dog will usually bark at people but it's that cross between Go away and Play with me bark. With this woman it was Kill! Kill! Kill! all the way. Cat-dog was a perfect lady as always.

I've been considering moving the cats into my room for the duration, but I'm not sure if that will be much better. It's just on the other side of the hall. I may move them for the demolition process as that will be the loudest part. And then let them go back to their room once that is done. Moving them downstairs would be quieter, but the downstairs bedroom door is a swinging door so I can't keep them in the room and Vince will be going in and out of the house a lot so the door will be open. If Punx got out I don't know if I'd get her back. Panther has come around so much - she still gets startled, but recovers very quickly.

I'm probably worrying over nothing and Punx will be fine. She isn't really that sensitive - just a bossy brat who wants things her way and only her way.

So last night before we went upstairs, it was time to do Tornado-dog's shower routine (yes, he still does it). He ran to get a toy and when he ran back, there was a shepherd right in the middle of his way. We got her moved and into the shower he went.

Today, he decided it was time for the shower routine. He and I were in the bathroom, Cat-dog was in the hall. He reached behind her to grab his ball and turned back to run into the shower. That dratted shepherd had moved right in his way and he had to stop short or plow into her. He looked up at me and I swear his eyes rolled.

I said "I know she does it to me too". I told her to move out of the way and he did his routine.

It is somehow nice to see her getting in his way like she does me.

And just now, he saw the reflection of Looney1 in the shower glass and startd growling. He wouldn't stop until I turned on the bathroom light. We can get up to three reflections at once - in the outer shower door, in the inner shower door, and in the tile. It gets a bit confusing for a Tornado-dog...

Dogs can be accidents waiting to happen.
Tally will run ahead, but then slams on the brakes to look over her shoulder. She has no idea how far ahead - or how close to you - she is when she stops. When she realises that she is too close she will opt to run backwards through your legs, just as you are trying to alter course to avoid a collision. It's a miracle that we haven't ended in a heap before now.
In all my years, I have never had a dog that did this before, but her son does exactly the same thing! I blame their American breeding. Tally has a US import father, and her son also has a US import as his Dad!

What a pair of cuties!!! Does he do it more? He's got an American dad AND grandpa.

Cat-dog is the only dog I've had who does this. It doesn't what you're doing or when, you turn around to move and she's right there. I sent Aunt C a text yesterday telling her about it, her response: she's good at that.

I will say, she understands what "would you move" means and is very quick to comply. Hmmm, maybe I should just start saying that BEFORE I turn around...

If I stop and say 'Come Close', she will move to her left heel position and look up at me. That's OK if she isn't actually in the process of backing up at the time, in which case it just creates additional confusion.
