A friend has this breed. They rarely retrieve, are not driven (they`re a Guarding breed) and are too heavy to do a Scale so wouldn`t recommend them....

English Pointers are very different from German SH or WH Pointers - which I think is causing you confusion. The latter are Hunt, Point, Retrieve...

The Saarloos is a GSD cross originally, so crossing back shouldn`t make that much difference, should it?
