They have a working and a show strain as well I prefer the working to be honest. I used to trim two one for each lovely dogs.

Thornit's fab hun I use it on most of my springers except for Dice who I've told you about on the other thread.
You and me both Jackie, I've never known a breeder allow some one pick a stud dog for them.
But its very rare and your missing the point anyway. If we all hipscored we could make steps at eradicating the problem its no good saying it looks...
I always use a crate initially for the pup and let the older dog get used to it just "being there" if that makes sense. I always find the older dogs...
Your right there but we both know what actually happens in most working homes ;) and I was actually speaking in general terms.
My friend breeds and works English her's are very happy in outside kennels. Mind you Pidge did say in her experience which is limited to one dog.
Which is why most working breeders dock the whole litter and run at least two pups out of it to see which develops best.

Im really confused is the pup born yet of has the mating been done. Whos picked the stud dog? From experience I'd dock but not sure how at 48 hours...
Its impossible to tell a dog has HD by looking at it, if you could do you think we'd waste our time and money xraying. A dog can be sound to all...
There a friendly breed to say the least :mrgreen: mine have been known to take themselves off in the local pub and go sit with a stranger, mind you...
I think you'd do a wonderful job, and personally if you think you have the time and energy to cope with an English springer I'd accept there kind...

HD is heriditary in some breed including Labs and if you xray the parents it tells you if you have a problem or not.
There's a difference between going to a vet for a check and health testing to make sure there is no genetic problems such as HD with the parent. Oh...
