It could be a lovely mix and a wonderful dog, but not a mix I would encourage people to get.
Not knowing if it was a ops pairing or a planned breeding, but I tend to lean more toward ops, when the name is miss spelled. (It's Dogue de Bordeaux).
I would asked if either parent was hip/elbow/eye tested?
Also be aware the Dogue de Bordeaux breed is known for allergies.
It's not a mix I would want a first time owner to try owning.
It's past rescue not a pairing, I personally would seek out. I don't see it as advancing either breed.
You also have a huge difference in personalities, A American Bulldog is more independent, a DDB is a indoor dog Velcro dog.
A American Bulldog tolerates warner climates far better.
A DDB is a true guardian breed, and with a lot of socialization, will be accepting of people and other animals, but will still be aloof.
I would advise getting pet insurance, hopefully you will never need it, but I can see a lot of possible future issues.
Hopefully your pup has the best traits of both breeds, and is a wonderful dog.
Please be very careful with exercise for the first year 5 mins per month old, be very care of your pup coming down stairs throughout it's life.
If you neuter/spay please waiting till after 18 months and hopefully after 2 years.
Food should be a Calcium Phosphorus ration of 1:1.2 or close to it.
Welcome to Breedia. I'm afraid I don't know much about bull breeds, but Bella looks a lovely puppy.
Looks like a lovely puppy, is this your first bulldog/bandogue?
This cross has been around for a while, it tends to take after the Bulldog more than the Dogue although an issue with this kind of F1 crossing is you have no clue whats actually going to turn up. That said I'd have a bet on you having a very stubborn and headstrong dog of significant size as this is generally true of both, the Dogue is considered less tractable than other mastiffs.
As above pet insurance is an absolute, both breeds significant issues with hips, elbows, cardiac, heat intolerance, enlarged pallette, entropion, ectropion, stenotic nares, wry jaw, skin disorders...
It may also be worth learning how to put your own shoulder back in the socket
Good breeding naturally helps, do you know much about the dogs behind your puppy?
All the best with her and keep us posted.
What a lovely looking dog. I know several Dogues de Bordeaux and one American Bulldog - all great dogs - but I've never come across a mix before.
Welcome to Breedia - it will be interesting to see how Bella turns out.
Hi there both dogs are clear we met mother and father both big softies
Looks like a lovely dog (maybe more like a boxer x AB to me)
That's what people thought she was when we got her a boxer .lol
Can see more AB in her in that last pic - she's gorgeous
Thanks Azz ile post some pics as she gets older she's 15 weeks old now and just over 30lb but what a good nature she has loves to play with my mini jack russel and my wife's plants
She's really cute. 30lbs already! How big were her parents?
Many Ddb pups are 15 to 30lbs at 8 weeks and for the first year keep up with English Mastiffs growth wise. The AB in her according to line could be 80 to 150lbs and Ddb your looking at 90 to 175lbs, so she could easily be a 90 to 140lb adult by my guess female wise.
Only thing is both breeds are real cuddle bugs, but between 8 to 12 months she is going to show you her temperament, and don't know AB's to well but the Ddb side can be a huge swing. She could go from overnight loving everyone to no one is allowed near my family. Socialize, socialize, and socializing will help lessen this. (Oh ya did I mention start socializing her now).
I know what they could be, I want to know specifically the size of the parents if they happen to know.
Hi there her dad was 147lb and her mam was 114lb both dogs were really laid back her mother let us go straight in and pick pup up no nastiness in her
You believe she will be over a 100lbs? I can't wait to see pics as she grows. I love brindle bullies.
