Best Smelling Dog Shampoo and Conditioner Recommendations?

    Hey everyone,

I’m looking for some recommendations and hoping you can help. I’ve tried a few products, but I’m still searching for that perfect balance of scent and gentleness.

The best smelling dog shampoo and conditioner I’ve used so far either faded too quickly or irritated my pup’s skin.

I’d love something that smells fresh and clean, lasts a few days, and is made with natural or hypoallergenic ingredients. What do you all use that works?

I’m open to any tips or favorite brands.

Maybe I am strange, but I rarely smell any shampoo/conditioner after a bath. Same goes with human shampoos/conditioners after I shower, and laundry detergent after clothes are washed. A lot of these products don't have much scent - to me, anyway - after the washing and drying is done.

I mostly buy shampoo/conditioner based on needs. Currently we bathe our dogs with a Veterinary Formula medicated shampoo. We typically buy a gentle oatmeal shampoo for an "ordinary" bath.

Side note: You only need about one tablespoon of laundry detergent for the average load of laundry, or two tablespoons for especially dirty loads. The caps on the detergent containers are designed to make you think they need to be filled. I've been using the tablespoon amount since I read about it. Our clothes are just as clean, and one container of detergent lasts for a while.

Advertising is against the rules. Making a post asking for advice and then quoting it and inserting a link is advertising. Reported.

I thought this post sounded odd, but I wanted to respond just in case. The wording has an advertising feel.

Also, on second glance, this is a male user named Diane. I vaguely remember a similar advertising post from a male user with a traditional female name.

Edit: Yes, this is the same user who made two posts asking about automatic feeders.

Yeah. It's annoying. This is a trick the use to beat automated spam checkers that remove links from posts - by making a clean first post and then quoting it with the link embedded, those systems don't catch their spamming.

Quite apart from the sneaky links - the majority of dogs do not appreciate the use of strongly perfumed products, especially scenthounds with their highly developed sensitivity in this area. It is only necessary for a dog to smell clean after shampooing, a lasting perfume is not necessary.
