    Demodectic Mange

We have had our frenchie for about seven weeks and he is 19 weeks old. . Over the past couple weeks we have noticed him getting bald spots. His skin looks a bit red and become sores. He was given NexGard to treat skin mites last week. Over the weekend new spots had developed and I was getting a bit concerned that the NewGard wasn't working and he had something different then what they thought. So I called the vet and had him go back for a skin scrap. I was afraid he would get worse and it would spread all over his body. Yesterday we brought him to vet. They did skin scrap and we learned that he does in fact have skin mites which they called it Demodectic Mange. Technician assured me this was not contagious to other pets or people. However, I forgot to ask how he developed them. The only solution she gave me was to continue the NexGard for two more months.

Has anyone ever had to deal with this?
How do you keep your Frenchie from developing this skin condition?
Do you give your Frenchie NexGard and Heartgard each month to keep parasites away?
