It hadn't even crossed my mind that Vito would howl, but the other night whilst playing with his squeaky christmas pudding, he started making this noise i'd never heard before. I listened closer. He was howling. It was the coolest thing i've ever heard. I was all goosebumps. It sounded like he was trying to talk to his toy. He now does it on demand if you squesk his toy a certain way. Is this something that most NI's do, and i've just been a real dumby! (likely!)
hi all dogs can howl....just some choose not to ;-) my n.i doesn't howl,neither does my collie but my csv does and my sibes don't shut up!full blown conflabs

My old male was a wonderful howler - a deep musical soul stiring sound. Luna would join him and they had some lovely sessions together, especially if I started in as well. Mad or what
my laptops doing the same sibes can bark,doesn't quite sound the same imo as 'other' breeds...again its on the individual Ive found they bark alot more as pups and tend to grow out of it,saying that my Lobo yips quite alot,Orla is silent and the others are inbetween but prefer to howl ;-)
lol, Lupa howls are not quite as cute, as they are usually broken up by lots of barking and wooing and general annoyingly loud sound making like I said, she likes her voice. a lot.
Both of mine can howl but Raina is the one that does it most. Ela whines and will only howl when very excitied
My Ute, Loki, does! Two bull terriers always barked at her when I was passing them with Loki, one day she got that fed up with it, she sat down on the ground, threw her head back and howled! Both the bull terriers yanked their owner up the drive and when they see her, neither bark
Missy does this kind of talking howl, until the children play their violin and cello then it is a full blown head back howl, but being half samoyed she also has a really hihgh piched bark that can make glasses ring!!!
