Posted this on another thread but thought it might be useful here too. Sorry no pics Dogue de Bordeaux Characterised by the largest, most magnificent head in dogdom and layered wrinkles on it's face and hefty exaggerated paws. Originally used for cattle droving and guarding the vineyards in Bordeaux, this pug-faced french warrior has survived coming close to extinction through 1 national revolution and 2 World Wars. Sometimes referred to as the French Mastiff, Bordeaux Bulldog or simply DDB. Since the 1400's, the DDB has had many jobs including: Herding cattle, Flock and property guarding, Hunting fercious game, Animal baiting and Dog fighting. An extremely cooperative, intelligent and fearless giant, Powerful and surprisingly athletic, the DDB has never been intimidated and makes an excellent guardian. Beneath all that toughness, lies a sweet, sincere, slobberingly loveable character that makes a wonderful companion. Size: Between 45kg-50kg (100-110lbs) Bitches lighter than Dogs. Height: 23-26ins at withers. Note: Size should be in proportion to the size of the head. Russ

I know a man with a gorgeous bitch DDB, she is a stunning dog, aloof with strangers but very loyal to her master.
now, this is not my dog (even though I took these pics ) It's from a dogshow last summer, wonderful dog!
Ditto Roxy! Met a gorgeous lad in the park today! He was grunting and running about, and he was massive!
We have a 2 1/2 year old male and a 14 week old bitch.fantastic dogs but Someone said 'aloof with starangers' very true to my lot but only in the home or when our children our around, otherwise a big friendly slobbering mess!! Not for the novice dog owner though!!(or the faint hearted if they fancy answering back)

Izzy has a shorter muzzle and is of stockier build, however the differences between them will not be as noticable as they mature, here is a picture of them together :smt008 Izzy on left, Ruben right.
