Golden Retriever help! - shedding hair

Any G Retriever owners know a secret weapon to deal with the large amount of blonde hair I have all over my house, clothes, and car. I had read about goldies shedding hair but didn't realise it would be this bad
I am surprised Charlie is not bald by now, he sheds so much hair, :) I'm using a pin brush on him which is helping, is brushing him everyday the best I can hope for!

have you tried either a furminator or mars coat king??? it helps remove the excess undercoat which helps with the shedding. You can fingd them on ebay, make sure you get the correct size though

Is he currently moulting? I know I felt like that when Tess was, I was getting bags of hair out of her during that time. I don't know the name of it, but I used a dog comb when Tess was moulting which got loads out and now I brush her every other day with a brush and don't seem to have a problem with hair shedding.

Hi Sarah, I think Charlie must be moulting right now as the hair is even worse than usual, I am brushing him with a slicker then a comb which does seem to be helping a bit. I have been brushing him every day to see if that helps any.
I might a guy in the park last night with a Goldie and he told me he just paid £40 to have his dog groomed as he couldn't cope with the hair everywhere.
I've looked on the internet at the furminator that Hannah mentioned but it looks a bit drastic!

    Hi Pam,

I must admit Tess does not shed a lot of hair except of course when she is moulting. I must be one of the lucky ones! Harvey my Basset loses more hair than her since he has been castrated. I took Tess to the groomer before her last moult and spent £15 getting her trimmed and washed but to be honest it didn't make much difference to her shedding. She does goes swimming most days so maybe that helps? I normally brush her every other day and that seems to be enough.

My three bigest customers are thre goldies owned by the same family. They coem together every six weeks for a good bath and blast out. We can get a bin bag of hair of the pup with a undercoat rake and a coatking.
