Assuming that I can manage to get Dex's reactivity under control, then I am still, really, really keen to get a GSD puppy in a year or so. I have a slight preference for a long coated GSD but would be very happy with a standard coat too. Though it's a way off, I'm starting to look at breeders... Of course I will only think about approaching those who do all the key health tests. However, I am also really set on getting a dog with a fab temperament. I realise that a lot will up to me in terms of socialisation and training. But I want to focus on breeders who really do produce great temperaments. Can any of you recommend any specific breeders please? Thus far I have looked at: Kazeti Kesyra Bozeta Nyrvana Albesa If any of the experienced GSD folk here on Dogsey can recommend any others OR if you think any of the ones I'm looking at are not for any reason the best choices for me, please do feel free to offer advice - it will be much appreciated! Many thanks
Oo exciting!! The OHs older German Shepherds have all been Kesyra. (They have had 4 from her I believe). Great temperaments and generally healthy. The older male has had auto-immune troubles and can be aggressive to other males, although the latter is a socialisation issue rather than the breeding. The newest GSD member is from Marinita. These have all been standard coat..
This thread might help from when I was helping them look for a good breeder: http://www.dogsey.com/showthread.php?t=156309
I have a Kazeti and my Nyrvana boy arrives on Sunday Both types are very different - my Kazeti (Yogi) is a West German show line longcoat and my Nyrvana is from 50% DDR/50% West German working lines and is standard coat. However, Margaret at Nyrvana also breeds some fabulous, flashy longcoat showline GSDs. I have a friend who has two bitches from this side of her breeding. They are fab. I would happily recommend either breeder, as they both breed with temperament (as well as health) as a priority. They both breed some fabulously gorgeous dogs too ;-)
I am not a fan of longcoats myself but Norma Ansell breeds sound, good temperament dogs. http://www.gefni.co.uk/German Shepherds.htm
