Hi, sort of new here. I have had 3 St. Bernard rescues, current one is 7yr old Scout. Poor Scout was abused - literally tied outside to starve - he weighed 80 lbs at 5 yr old (now weighs 150). Needless to say he's been a challenge and has taken us a year and 1/2 to address and resolve his issues. He's been wonderful and loving with us from day one but was very insecure and protective. Now he loves everybody, but can sense a non-dog lover a mile away and would protect us to the end. My last Saint became a therapy dog who loved going to nursing homes - she lived to 12 1/2 and brought comfort and smiles to many people. My 1st saint loved kids, but unfortunately we only had him 3 yrs before cancer took him. Love the breed and love to rescue!
They really are a beautiful breed. Normally the gentle giants and always get attention. Welcome to the forum x
