IF the NI ever gets KC recognition what group should it be in

just wondered...what peoples thoughts where on it..

what group do you think they would/should be in if they ever do gain KC Recognition?

    I would have said Utility?

my interpretation of Utility means a dog that is useful to us. A dog that was bred to do something, a specific funtion.
Im sorry but the NI would not fit into this class, or any others because its been bred purely for it looks. It does not fit into any group so I unable to say where it could go.

Probably the reason it will never get KC recognition!

Well they say it came from:

    The German Shepherd: Pastoral Group

    The Alaskan Malamute: Working Group

    The Siberian Husky: Working Group

The Utility Group have a mix of breeds in their Group: Akita/Bulldog/Dalmatian/Chow Chow/Poodle/schnauzer/tibetan terrier Etc

I do not think that the personality of a NI fits any of them?
So i do not really know!

Weeeeell if their specific function is to look like a wolf then I guess they'd be utility

 mine would be under 'Lap dog' or 'couch potato' group

KC recognition won't be happening so it doesn't really matter, but if I had to choose I think Utility

I thought Utility as the other purpose seems to be as a companion:)

I would have thought utility also, as the KC don't have a "gorgeous" group :D

One would think Utility because that seems to be where dogs that have no particular right, by the work they do or did, to be in any of the others, although one could argue that a number of the dogs in Utility should be in the Working group the poodle, Dalmatian, Akita, Keeshond and the may be several others.

In the past dogs that were bred to be ornamental were placed in the Toy group and had that been called something different, may be the Accessory Dogs Group then we would have no difficulty. There may be many who would like us to have a Designer group and then we could open the doors to any crossbreed that got it's self a name. I don't think it is anything we need worry ourselves about for many a long while yet.

My dog trainer would class NI as working.

    Humm...sure how that would work...

I think I would have to go for utility as well - it does seem to be a mixed group ;)

As Arctic Wolf has said.. it`ll never happen.

Utility - their purpose is as a companion (not that it is not as good a job as any but does not make them a working dog)

For what reason? They are not a job designed to do a job like the others in the working group ...?

Im surprised more people havent said the working group... Im sure there was a debate before where everyone felt they should be in the working group.... but I think Utility fits better

The Eurasier does but it is nothing like the NI or even like a wolf - the FCI have it under section 5 not suitable for the NI as they are not spitz nor primitive.
