What is the difference between a Irish Staffy and a English Staffy?

I find them very different. The Staffordshire has a much broader skull and body and is lower to ther ground whereas the Irish is leggier and not so broad.

I changed it to pictures, also there is a rescue in Ireland called Egar she has many types of both.

God there's a big difference between them both really. The English seems a lot thicker set and definatly a lot more chunky then the irish.
The head is also a big give away looking at those pic's. Cheers for that x

From my own knowledge the Irish staff is the APBT renamed.
BUT I have met a few APBT and have all been lovely dogs I think the ones that cause the attacks are the ones that live outdoors with no socialisation. The family pets I believe cause no problems. A while back I looked into the fatal dog attacks by rotties and Pitbulls and they are from dogs who are guard dogs and live outside or have been bred to fight.

If you look back into the lineage/pedigree of Irish Staffords you would be suprized, most did actually originate from KC Reg SBT's.
They used the taller leaner dogs in their breeding programmes, usually breeding away from the current standard we have today and breeding to the original 1935 standard hence the leaner and taller dog.

Pitts may have been bred for fighting, but they should not be aggressive towards people, the same is true of the SBT,it was used as a fighting dog,but there is no way the handler would tolerate any aggression towards people, infact it's quite common knowlege that an injured dog would be transported home in a pram with a baby.

All the APBT I have met are so lovely. The very 1st rescue dog I ever met was a APBT x Mastiff called Troy. I used to walk him when I 1st started. he adored my son who was then 3 and when my son held the lead would stop pulling. Some young guy had bought him as a "look at my tough dog" kind of thing then was working long hours so left him in the back of his small van for 8 hours a day nearly. He came in limping at 12 months and had muscle wastage and was dragging his leg along the ground in the end had to be amputated. He was one of the best dogss I have ever met and held no resentment to humans at all infact all he ever wanted to do was please us.
I always say is the minority ruining these breeds for the majority

Wow looking at those pics she kind of inbetween. Definately not as chunky as a full staffy but quite leggy. I have her pedigree back to her great great grandparents. Will find a way to upload a piture of her and then maybe someone can help. Thanks

Lola how old is this bitch, all young dogs go through a leggy stage and it would be difficult to know at that point unless you are experienced in the breed.

IMO a good many dogs called ISBT are in fact Staffie cross breeds so there is a problem in looking at a ISBT and trying to see if your dog resembles that.

She is a yr and 7 months now. Just been looking at pics of her and ISBT's but she is a bit chunkier in the head.

Ah, well she is fully-grown, even so she could be a pure bred Staffie but not strictly to standard, there are no end of Staffies that do not closely resemble the breed standard and none the worse pets for that.

It does not really matter if she is pure bred or not because I guess you love her to bits, only thing is if she was sold to you as a pure bred that is what you would expect to have but as I said that is probably what you do have, blues are born to pure bred staffies just the same as they are to staffie cross breeds, so the fact she is blue makes no difference.

    Ok
Thank you for all your help and you are right I'm not really fussed if she is a pure breed or not I still love her to bits.
